LUCY PEARSON - BSc Hons, MCSP, HCPC, APCP
Lucy is a specialist Children's Physiotherapist, with over 12 years paediatric specific physiotherapy experience. She has specialist knowledge, interest and understanding around child growth, development and common childhood injuries.
Lucy qualified from University of Nottingham where she completed her junior rotations before moving to work in a specialist school for children with motor disorders. She gained extensive experience with children with Cerebral Palsy and Motor conditions, refined her handling and facilitation skills as well as working closely with Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language therapists to give her rounded knowledge of equipment and communication.
She then moved to London to work within a specialist children’s physiotherapy team, working on the NICU, in children’s MSK outpatients, with paediatric orthopaedic conditions, developmental coordination disorder and within special needs schools.
Lucy’s passion for travel took her overseas to New Zealand where she worked for the Children's Development Centre at New Zealand's flagship children's hospital, Starship, where she specialised as a neurodevelopmental Therapist working with children under 5. Lucy completed Bobath modules in typical child development and normal movement. Alongside this, Lucy also worked in Auckland’s leading private school where she treated elite sportspersons – namely in netball and cricket.
Lucy specialises in child development and works with children from birth, with a wide range of differing medical conditions and needs. Lucy understands that children are not just little adults and therefore understands that they need to be treated differently to gain an effective treatment outcome. She believes physiotherapy should be engaging and fun as well as being effective.
Lucy has a passion for working with children and has a sound understanding of developmental milestones as well as the pre-requisites required to achieve a milestone successfully as well as understanding typical growth patterns and bone maturation to ensure appropriate training programs are recommended and devised.
Lucy can't wait to work with you and your child to achieve your goals.
