What to Expect:
Unfortunately shockwave therapy is not a golden bullet that can fix every ache and pain anyone has. We must first confirm the diagnosis and ensure shockwave therapy would be suitable for the condition before booking in someone for a course of shockwave therapy. We also would not perform shockwave therapy in isolation, it would always be coupled with other conservative treatments such as exercise, activity modification and manual therapy.
If your clinician does feel shockwave therapy will accelerate your recovery then a course of 3 - 9 sessions will be prescribed.

The healthcare provider applies a gel or fluid to the treatment area to improve conduction of the waves.

The handpiece is moved over the area where shockwaves are to be applied, typically for a duration of about 5–10 minutes.
